THE INSPECTOR GENERAL

Bennie entered the military service as a cadet of the Philippine Military Academy in 1977; upon graduation in 1981, was commissioned in the Philippine Army as an Infantry Officer.
After a tour of duty with the 3 rd Infantry Division as a company grade officer in the Lanao Provinces addressing the separatists and then in Panay Island dealing with the insurgents, he took on junior staff assignments in the Army General Staff and then at the AFP General Headquarters particularly in the area of Comptrollership.
He led the 58 th Infantry Battalion in Mindanao at the height of the MILF hostilities in 2000 and was conferred the honorary title of Sultan a Romapunut sa Lumbayanague in Lanao del Sur for his peace efforts.
Upon graduation from the Army Command and General Staff Course, he was retained to serve as Department Head of the Strategy, Warfare and Conflict Studies of the Army Command and Staff College of the Training and Doctrines Command where earlier he also served as faculty and staff of the same Training Command; later, he joined the faculty of the AFP Command and General Staff College.
His senior staff assignments include as the Executive Assistants to the AFP Chief of Staff and afterward to The Deputy Chief of Staff; as the Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Finance at the Department of National Defense; as the first Chief of Staff and Spokesperson of 10 th Infantry Division organized in Davao City in 2006; as Commander of Joint Task Force GENSAN confronting terrorist threats in General Santos City; as Commander, 104 th Infantry (Sultan) Brigade tasked to bring back stability in Lanao Norte and Iligan City after the atrocities in August 2008; as Senior Military Assistant to DND Secretary; as Chief, AFP Command Center; as Chief, AFP Management and Fiscal Office; as Assistant Commandant of the AFP Command and General Staff College; as Commander of Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army; as Commander of 5th Infantry “Star” Division, Philippine Army and presently as The Inspector General, Armed Forces of the Philippines.
His postgraduate educations include a Master in Management at the Asian Institute of Management, a Master in Business Administration at the National College of Business and Arts, and a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies at Deakin University in Australia. He also finished the Freelance Writer Program through distance learning with the Penn Foster Career School of the United States of America. He is a Fellow of the Australian Defense College's Center for Defense and Strategic Studies, and was an associate professor of the Philippine Christian University.
He is married to Annabelle Quiñonez of Surigao Sur with whom he has four children: Antoinette, Dyanne Lysette, Michael Henry and Patrick Kevin.
